Welcome to Neopets! Now that you have made your first pet (and for now you should only have one to maintain till you get more familiar with everything) what to do...what to do. Well for starters Neopets has arranged for free stuff to do after the first 48 hrs of activation of the account that you can do every day. So one of the first things that you will want to do is get some omelette. Now I know you are thinking...where? Well I will tell you, you go to the land of Tyrannia. But watch out for the Monoceraptor, he eats neopets (just kidding, but you will see messages like that!). Now you will want to head for the Plateau, as that is where you will find the Giant Omelette. Go get it, but you can take only one slice a day so remember that okay? Here on the Plateau you can also take in a concert or visit the cave. I won't spoil it for you but its fun!

Next stop Mystery Island. Ah the natives. There are a lot of fun things to do here. Go take a tour of the island or go on a safari! Get your daily Haiku read to you. Have fun! There are also a few other items of interest as well. Here is the Island Training Center where you can train your pet (I promise to get into all that later); the Trading Post where you can trade your items for other items with other players; the Kitchen Refugee from Maraqua (which I will tell you all about) and the Tomobola, run by the Tiki Taki Guy. This is another free place that can give you great rewards. You can win faeries, which grant magical abilities to use in the Battledome (which I swear that I will get into), and you can win codestones that you can sell or use at the Island Training Center. Most of the time you will not win, but sometimes he will feel sorry for you and give you some pin money (he is such a nice guy after all). There are also a lot of cool games to do here, which I insist that you try, and after you have tried them all.

On to Faerieland! On the opening cloud is the Wheel of Excitement where you can win fabulous items or even 10,000 neopoints and the best part is that you can do this every 2 hours! The downside of the wheel is the Pant Devil (a very vile creature) can steal items from you, or you can come down with a disease. But fear not...cause the Water Faerie is here as well. She can cure your pet of any disease, feed them or restore any lost points. She can also give you healing potions. Some you and take into the Battledome (I promise to talk about it I swear!) and some you can use outside of it. Inside the city are more faerie shops and a very special place called the Hidden Tower. Here is where the Uber-Rich spend their money *sighs*. Okay pick up your tongue and follow me to our next destination...The Lost Desert.

Now as pretty as Faerieland is, the Lost Desert is one of my favorite places to be. And there are 2
free places here. First is King Coltzan's Shrine (you should read what happened, its tragic). He can grant you Desert food, increase you stats, levels, and even give away 1,000,000 neopoints (this is what I heard but have yet to see it) Sometimes at certain times of the day he will do nothing for you or he will laugh at you (*shakes fist at him* "A curse on you! Oh wait you haven't given me my million yet...so sorry, let me get that for you!). Anyway...you can visit the Fruit Machine where it dispenses Desert fruit as prizes...along with Paintbrushes and loads of money! Both of these are once a day deals so you should visit here every day. Now many of the games here I highly recommend you try. Pyramid, Solitaire and 21 are familiar games and can earn you neopoints or even a trophy for you look-up page. Now onto a very tragic place...

Meridell a place that was the battle ground for the last war. It was devastated completely, but is slowly recovering with the return of everyone's favorite Faerie, Ms. Illusen herself! The fiends responsible for the devastation was Lord Darigan, which we have not heard the last of (from the look of things there may be another war coming) but us loyal Meridell Squires will fend them off better this time. High above Meridell is Darigan's Citadel (now where is a canon when you need one!) and the only thing to do here is the Petpet battles. Everything here is random, but if you defeat all 10 battlers, your pet's pet will gain a level and can help you out in the Battledome (I know, I know, 5 more places to describe and then I will tell you!) One last thing I will say is I do suggest that you read all parts of what brought about the war and what happened during it so that you are fully aware of everything. The link is on the main page of Meridell.

Neopian Central has most of the main shops where you can buy items for your pet. It is also home to 2 great places. The Auction House and the Soup Faerie. The Auction House is where you can get great deals on everything. It can also rob you blind if you are not careful. When in doubt of anything, check the Shop Wizard. If you found that you bid too much on an item you can get out of it by putting your money into your bank account. At that point they will skip your bid and go to the next bidder. Try not to make a habit out of that by checking wizard first before bidding. The next place is the Soup Faerie. She is a lifesaver, more importantly your pet's lifesaver as she will feed your pet FOR FREE!!!!!! The only stipulation that she has is that you must be "poor" (which is less then 2,000 neopoints in the bank, your shop's till, or on hand) Now this is the place that you will be spending most of your time so you should be familiar with it all.

If you like Halloween, then the Haunted Woods is your place. There is Edna the Witch (you can do her quests for her, but the rewards are minimal), the Esophagor and the Braintree. You can do their quests individually if you wish, but if you want to do the Braintree's quests you will need the Esophagor's help to do it. So you talk to the Braintree first, then talk to the Esophagor. A word of warning, the Esophagor is a very greedy creature so if you have the money to spare go for it. If you don't, don't do the Braintree and the Esophagor's quests. There are a few games that you will like so try them out. One of the newer items here is the Spooky Scratchcards. For 1,200 neopoints you can get some great prizes and you can try every 2hrs up to scratching the cards 5 times a day.

Next up is Terror Mountain. At its base is Happy Valley, a rather cute little place. One of my favorite games here is Snow Wars, which is like Battleship. Only bad thing is that the guy doesn't scream "You sunk my Battleship!" Take the path up into the Ice Caves, you will not regret it. There are 2 important places here. The first is the ScratchCard Kiosk, and the second is the Snowanger. The Snowager is the most powerful, greediest worm out there (only because lawyers are not apart of Neopets...just kidding!) At certain times of the day he goes to sleep, and that is when you can strike at him and steal his hoard. But be careful, if he catches you, you will be very sorry (just visit the Water Faerie in Faerieland and she will heal you right back up). Head up to Terror Mountain and you will see the Snow Faerie. If you are going to do any side-quests, then she is the person to be going to. You get better rewards from her but a word of caution. Only do the quest if all the items are less then 3,000 neopoints as she has a habit of requesting items that cost upwards of 20,000nps (she has this insane notion that everyone is rich.go figure). If you decide not to do the quest you do not get penalized for not doing it. Just let the time expire and then you can try again. Almost done I swear!

Okay next is Krawk Island. Here the pirate is supreme. One of my favorite places is to find the "Buried Treasure". This costs 200 neopoints, but you have a chance to win the jackpot...err...I mean the "buried treasure". There is also another training facility here called the Academy. The cool thing about this place is that on your pet's special day, the owner allows free training all day all night 24hrs. The bad part is that the currency of this island is Dubloons. But don't worry there are many ways to win them, but I will let you discover them all.

The last official place that I will talk about is the Space Station high above in space. Other then a few games like Gormball and Zurroball and the rare item exchange, there really is nothing of interest here. Maybe later there will be more. I just want to briefly mention 2 other places so that you are aware of them. One is Maraqua that was destroyed by a whirlpool and the other is a New World call Jelly World that has yet to be on the map yet. Right now all they have is free jelly every day (just like the omelettes) and a Jelly food store. So that is it for all the worlds of Neopia. Now to discuss the gore of Neopia...

The Battledome! As I have promised during this entire guide here is your very brief look at the Battledome. When you first enter the Battledome there may be a few sections that are a little confusing. First is the status page. This will tell you how your pet is and the actual numbers that you pet's stats are. It will also take you out of any one player battles that you may have been in. If you need any healing then you need to come here first before healing your pet to guarantee that you are out of the battle as the Water Faerie will not heal you until you are not in any engagements.

The next section is the equipment section. Here is where you can equip an item and the only way to un-equip an item. You will also see what you have one...its been known to happen *looks around* "What, so I forget sometimes...geesh!" This is also a good time to get to know some of the items that Neopia has made for battling and the best place to see most of them is the Battlepedia. Now don't let the prices deceive you. Some items that say that it costs 26,000nps for something, when in fact it only costs 200nps. But the opposite is true as well. Use the Shop Wizard to check the prices of everything. This will also help you to determine the economy of things as well.

There are a couple of items you will want to have to get you started. You will want a defense item like a shield, an offensive item like a basic lightning beam or a bubble beam, and a healing potion like a lime elixir that heals you 5 points of damage. You can also include snowballs or snowflakes or muffins into your arsenal to round yourself out. Now you are ready to battle. Until you get more familiar with things I recommend doing the One-Player Battles. First opponent the Chia Clown! He is rather easy when you first start and lots of fun when you defeat him. I would stick with him till you are stronger and can handle others. Now this is when you can use the benefits of Coltzan's Shrine, both training centers and the quests given out by the Uber-Faeries. When you have lots of money something I do recommend you get is the Lab Ray pieces. You will find some, win some, and some you will have to buy. But when you assemble all of the pieces you will gain permanent access to the lab ray and each day it will do something. It could increase or decrease stats, change the sex or the species of the pet and can change the colour of your pet so at that point you will not need a paintbrush.

The last few things that I want to elaborate a little more on (I know I can't stop talking. Anyone that knows me says that all the time!) is the shop wizard, the bank as well as how to avoid being scammed. First the shop wizard. This is a special tool that I recommend as highly as I can get. You will pick up amazing bargains her as the shop wizard cans every owner's shop looking for the lowest price available. Scan more then once so that you get the lowest price, as there are shops in many of the different worlds. Sometimes you can get away with just typing "codestone" but if you are looking for something specific like the book "Faeries" then choose Identical phrasing versus containing words. You will see what I mean when you do it.

Next the Bank. This is where you will be putting all your millions, and it will earn you thousands in interest. Remember to collect your interest every day before you deposit anything. One good tip I would recommend is whatever you earn that day, put half into the bank. So if you win 10,000nps put 5,000 into the bank and DON'T TOUCH IT!! By putting half of it away you will start to amass lots of money to spoil your pet with (remember the hidden tower...)

Last tip and then I am done with you, I swear! There are 2 cliches that have a lot of relevance here. One is "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is" and the other is "there is a sucker born every minute." The last was quoted by P.T. Barnum and it will help you avoid the scammers out there that LOVE to pray on newbies. They will try everything to get your nps, items your account, everything. And they have no conscience. They don't care about how hard you worked on your account or how much you love your pet, they will steal it just the same. Change your password often and NEVER GIVE IT TO ANYONE, NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY; don't log into any page that doesn't have the neopets.com in its URL; always, always check the amount of what you are buying cause now they can change that too; always do any trades through the trading post to guarantee that what you are trading you actually get, don't trust them to send it to you, cause then you will never see it and remember "if it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is" and "there is a sucker born every minute". Be smart and safe. If anything seems wrong in the shops, there is a button for you to press and report them and let neopets handle it. That's it! If you have any other questions feel free to neomail me I am on most days and I will try to elaborate on more stuff!
