Welcome to the Kafra Guide. This is something that I have been wanting to do, but have been too lazy to actually do. So here we go. Some of this does imply that you do know some photoshop, though this guide can be applied if you are using Paint or Gimp. Most of the concepts are the same.
So, shall we being?
First step, is to pick an image. Now for me, I find images of anime chars that are maids, since that is what Kafra's all look like. But you can chose any image. I have some that are faeries, and even an absolutely cute one of Dopple as a Kafra, so you can choose anything.
Step 1:

Your second step is to fill in with the magenta that will make this transparent. The colour for transparency is #ff00ff. Now one thing that I forgot to also show, is that there are two things that you can do. You can either fill in the white, or if you are using Photoshop, you can use the Magic eraser and remove the white. Then using the Inverse, and delete, remove some of the bleeding (which I will show you in the following steps.) Then proceed with the step shown.
Step 2:

Regardless of which step you take, it will lead you to step three.
Step 3:

One thing I realized half way through this, is that you can use a blending option called Stroke, and it would do the outlining of the outer edges for you. However, one reason I did not use this, is that the Stroke option still produces a bleeding, making the next few steps still there, but instead of drawing the black, you would be using the magenta exclusively to clean up the edges. Whichever you decide, the next few steps will work.

Step 4:

Step 5:
Once this is done, it is ready for upload. I usually make two copies, one in my main Kafra folder, and one for the skins folder. To make a skins folder for the Kafras, you need to first name the folder 'illust' then save your files as kafra_01.bmp.
All kafra files must be saved in the bmp format, otherwise they will not be visable. You can make up to 8 kafra's and they will be visable. Once complete, you can upload your skin that you made the kafra in and view it. If it was done right, it should look like this:
If not, pull it out and make the necessary changes in photoshop/paint, and make sure you save it again.
Well I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you have any questions feel free to leave me a message on RoEmpire.com/forums or email me.
